    Assessment of application of quality assurance model - COHASA at International Hospital Kampala, Uganda.

    Introduction: A study on the application of a Quality Assurance Model Council of Health Services Accreditation for South Africa at International Hospital Kampala, Uganda. The study was guided by three specific objectives which included: (i) Assess patient related factors influencing the adoption & implementation of quality assurance model Council of Health Services Accreditation for South Africa at International Hospital, Kampala, (ii) Determine the International Hospital Kampala staff perceived benefit in adopting and implementing Council of Health Services Accreditation for South Africa Quality Assurance model, (iii) Examine the influence of external factors on the adoption and implementation of Council of Health Services Accreditation for South Africa as quality assurance model. Methodology: A cross section study design was considered, which is descriptive and observational and both qualitative and quantitative data collection methods were used to carry out the study on the population of 450 people where a sample size of 201 respondents were sampled out using Yamane . Results: Findings indicated that for any health care facility to compete globally, international standards on quality have to be followed and adhered to and this therefore calls in for the adoption of different quality assurance models. The study concluded that quality of health care services are dependent on the quality assurance model used, professionalism, level of education, top management commitment and patient's demand.
