Abstract
Secondary infertility of female has big burden upon women of reproductive age, most of women with this case seek treatment at late stage because fear to talk STI infections and they do not tell the correct history to health workers in outpatient clinic, because of principles of health worker will ask her partner for treatment of the same sickness to escape this problem that will come out between her and husband, they keep with one side treatment, that is not relevant to her type of sick. Prolonging will result into secondary infertility.
It is necessary to treatment earlier which is cheap and affordable. Then late stage which consume a lot of resource with much cost opportunities, mood change. The data was collected from Nsambya Hospital, Department of fertility clinic and Paragon Hospital. It was primary data from respondents females with case of secondary infertility aged 18 – 49 years whom did not conceived in safe sex unprotected for 2 year and above.
The study case was cross sectional study convince approach was suitable to interview them, because they attended in few numbers according time tables visit in clinic with previously diagnosis of SI. The study population was aged 18 – 49 years who had given birth one to three children and ceased pregnancy for another seeking help to get pregnant in fertility clinics.
The study found risk factors in obstetric history for secondary infertility, were lack of prenatal care, illegal abortion, still birth, post-partum infection. Those who gave at home were majority 92 from 150 females interviewed 61.2% the result of birth at home in unsafe places study found behavior factor of female played major role in secondary infertility.
Female hided sickness concerning their private part, in fear to tell their partner about STI from [150] female interviewed, majority said yes 137 fear to tell the sickness [91.3%].
Study concluded obstetric history, behavior factors of female were main cause of secondary infertility among women aged 18 – 49 years.
